1- Plan.
Know exactly what your expecting to achieve and how your going to get there. Starting out with just a vague idea of where your going will only see you create vague results. Yes things will evolve as you go along but you must have a definite plan with a definite goal in mind. Its a bit like jumping into your car with no destination in mind, you will never get anywhere.
2- Believe in Yourself.
Have complete faith and total belief that you will succeed, that you will reach your destination. For me personally this is probably the most important aspect of being an entrepreneur. Having an unwavering belief in myself when all others around me are telling me different or when all evidence is pointing away from my vision is so critical to being a successful entrepreneur.
3- Enjoy What You Do
Lets face it, your probably starting or have started a business of your own because working a 9-5 job and having a boss is driving you nuts. So with this in mind why start something you wont enjoy. You will only end up in the same position as before and that is hating what you do. Find a passion, something that will have you dreaming of the next day and what you can achieve with it. Believe me, when your doing something you love then money arrives a lot sooner and easier.
4- Think Big.
We all think, so why not think big. The problem with us humans is, is that we tend to think small mainly because we don't want to let ourselves down by expecting too much. No no no, aim for the stars my friends and you shall reach the sky. Have big ideas, have big expectations and you will see big results. We are not on this planet to play small, we are here to let the world know what we are up to.
5- Keep Learning.
Whatever field or market you enter decide to become an expert. Make it a habit to grow your knowledge on that subject. Become an authority that people will trust and thus will become a customer. Always keep learning and stay one step ahead of the competition. But bear in mind that knowledge only becomes power when you actually put that knowledge into action.
6- Delegate.
New business owners often believe they have to do it all. Wrong. Learn to delegate. Hand over work that you don't understand or don't have time to do, especially if its is more economically viable to pass it on, meaning your time is valuable so do work that will make you the most money and pass on the bits that will not. Adversity is going to happen, its just a fact. You are going to be fighting what might seem at times a loosing battle where all the gods have conspired against you. But when you know adversity will definitely arrive and you don't take it as a personal thing that only you are going through then you will overcome it easily. 9- Model On Someone.
Rather than trying to figure it all out yourself look for a person who has already blazed a trail and had success in your particular market. These people will have made the mistakes so you don't have to. Find a person who is getting the results you want and copy them but also add your own personal twist to it. If your exactly the same as them then a potential customer is only going to go with the more established business rather than the newbie, so add your personal touch.
10- Persistence.
The only time you ever fail is when you give up. If your on the right path and you persist no matter what then there is no way you will not reach your goals.
