The desire for success. The desire for independence. The desire to be bigger than you are right now. The desire to grow, to strive, to be respected, to be powerful. To make a difference in the world. Desire is the building block of an entrepreneur's spirit. An entrepreneur wants more than just a 9 to 5 job. He wants more than a mediocre lifestyle. It is from this desire that everything else stems. Nourish your drive with dreams and goals and never neglect the importance of desire.
Desire can move mountains. Entrepreneurs Know They're the Author of Their Lives
Most people blame others for their circumstances. They hate their job and it's their boss's fault. The meeting didn't happen because the secretary messed up. The entrepreneur doesn't blame, they take accountability. They take authorship of everything that surrounds them. They know they are the author of their own lives. This means taking accountability for the way your life is right now. If you're dead broke and don't seem to be anywhere near making more money - How did you create that? If you're well on your way to becoming successful, how did you create that?
Only from a place of taking full accountability and authorship of your life as it is, can you start to write your life differently. The entrepreneur is an author: a person who sees the world as it is and decides to create the world differently.
An Entrepreneur is Action Oriented
The entrepreneur has the attitude and spirit of someone who can get things done. It's not about "input" it's about "output." In the beginning of your career, it is important to learn. To study people who've succeeded in the past to see why and how they succeeded. But that shouldn't last more than 3 months. Learn, then take massive action. As a rule of thumb, only learn something when it will immediately impact your business right now. Don't learn about how to structure a product launch unless you're actually launching a product. Don't learn about how to write compelling marketing copy until you're ready to write copy.
Don't read about how to build website traffic before you have a product and website to drive traffic to. If you're building a web business and you don't know how to build a website, then either learn that one skill and take action, or learn how to hire someone and take action towards hiring someone. Don't get stuck in "analysis paralysis" - Where you're learning but not doing. Learn as much as you need to take action then take action.
These are the three powerful factors that make up the raw spirit of an entrepreneur. The burning, undying desire for success. The knowledge that they're the creator of the world around them - That they created it as it is and they can create it as they want. And finally, an entrepreneur is always taking action towards what they want. Cultivate this spirit. The spirit of an entrepreneur will take you many places.
